Welcome to Prompter.com

I started this site because I've noticed a lack of decent and trustworthy teleprompter reviews on the internet. I've been in the media industry for over two decades, supporting various news and media outlets. My primary role has been in the coordination of logistics for shows that shoot on-location at various venues and events, primarily media coverage of political events. I've also spent several years in the political arena, coordinating public relations event technology. Teleprompters and Cueprompters have become more and more popular as the technology has gotten more portable, less expensive and easier to use. Its now common to see teleprompters and teleprompter software used in corporate events, marketing events and conventions.

One exciting advancement in the industry is the ipad teleprompter. By leveraging the power and portability of the iPad, as well as its large developer base, ipad teleprompters have become more and more commonplace. They are especially useful when portability is required, as well as on-the-fly text revision. I've written an article reviewing ipad teleprompters.

As important as the hardware for a teleprompter is the software used. There are both open and closed sourced softwares available, each with their own pros and cons. As time permits, I will also review these. To learn a little more about teleprompter software, I have written an introductory article. Another topic of interest is portable teleprompters. There are several portable solutions out there, besides the ipad teleprompter, that are especially suitable for on-the-go applications.

I hope you find the information here useful. I have also supplied readers with links to various teleprompter and cueprompter resources and retailers. Amazon.com has some great deals on hardware and accessories. For more specialized models, I have linked to other retailers that cater to commercial needs.

However, you will need to purchase your own teleprompter software through iTunes to use with your iPad. The Teleprompter R810-5 does not have teleprompter software installed. Some great options for teleprompter software are Teleprompt+ for iPad, Prompster, Orator, Prompterous HD, and iQPrompt.

Teleprompter Hardware & Teleprompter Software – What’s the Difference?

In the 1950’s teleprompters were invented to replace cue cards for actors who had several lines to memorize for films and television. Today, however, teleprompters are used by many individuals wishing to give an impeccable speech or presentation, including some of our presidents.

The question is, how does a teleprompter work, and what’s the difference between teleprompter hardware and teleprompter software? Simply put, teleprompters are computer-based machines that scroll the text you wish to speak across a screen, providing your audience with the illusion that you have memorized everything you are saying.

The difference between the teleprompter hardware and software can be easily described as the hardware being the machine itself, anything you can physically touch, and the software being a set of instructions inside the computer that runs it – the programming. However, choosing the right combination of hardware and software can make all the difference for your presentation.

Some teleprompter software can import text documents from Microsoft Word, or you can even use the iPad teleprompter software for entering in your text. However, depending on what teleprompter software you choose, you may lose some of your font colors, italic lettering, or bold type when you import it into the software, or export it back to the original for edits. You need to find the software that works for you.

Another teleprompter software tip is making sure you have spell check. As a speaker, you may come across a word that is spelled incorrectly, and you may stop speaking in front of your audience. Additionally, depending on your vision, font color and background color can play a role in how well you are able to view the text. You may want to consider teleprompter software that offers different color options.

Teleprompter software that has the ability to move the text to different areas of the screen may also be an option you are interested in. This feature allows you to move about the presentation area but still be able to see the text from all angles.

Two features that work together are the teleprompter software’s ability to smoothly scroll the text, and the teleprompter operator’s option of adjusting the speed during your presentation. If your teleprompter software does not have smooth scrolling text, you will have a hard time reading choppy wording, and if you are speaking too fast, or too slowly, your operator will not be able to adjust the speed of the text.

Additionally, a good speaker will address the audience, and not focus entirely on the teleprompter. In a situation like this, your operator will need to be able to skip ahead if you look away, or go back if you’ve forgotten something. Also, in a live presentation, if someone asks a question, or for you to repeat something, your operator can go back as well, if your teleprompter software offers the jump to line feature.

Now, when it comes to choosing the hardware to run the software, it is just a compatibility issue. Your teleprompter software will have instructions on what type of hardware you will need in order to run in, and from there it is just a matter of preference. There are large studio models available as well as portable teleprompters that are lightweight and easy to carry with you. The decision is yours, and a perfect presentation is on the way.

Portable Teleprompters – Convenient & Easy To Use

You have heard about the use of teleprompters for actors who have many lines to memorize for big blockbuster movies. Unfortunately, those are often large, heavy studio models that really are only good for one location.

However, you want something a little smaller, easier to use, and that can travel with you. Fortunately, in today’s ever-growing technologically advanced world, teleprompters have also changed, and become more widely used for speeches, presentations, and even web video posts.

There are many portable teleprompters and easy-to-use teleprompter options available, even simply using your iPad as a teleprompter, with or without an external display monitor. By purchasing an app from iTunes, such as Teleprompter+ for iPad for only $14.99, you can turn your iPad into a teleprompter.

Teleprompt+ for iPad was created by Bombing Brain Interactive, and can be used by professionals or beginners. The teleprompter software that runs Teleprompt+ for iPad allows you to simply enter text directly into the app, or upload a prepared text document from Google Docs or Dropbox.

With a VGA connector, you can use your iPad to connect to an external monitor. However, if you are only using your iPad as the teleprompter, you can adjust the speed of the scrolling text directly, or use another iPad, or your iPhone through a Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connection.

Additionally, while you are presenting, or performing, the Teleprompt+ for iPad can record audio, time your presentation, as well as other features of teleprompter app software. Teleprompt+ teleprompter software is an advanced teleprompter app, making it the best portable iPad teleprompter option out there.

Aside from Teleprompt+ for iPad, there are several other teleprompter apps that you can purchase for your iPad, such as Prompster, Orator, Prompterous HD and iQPrompter. Each app has different features, different prices, and a few offer options to connect to external monitors, while others can only be ran from your iPad.

However, if you do not have an iPad, and are looking for a complete package deal, teleprompter software included, Ikan offers many products, such as the Ikan PT2100 8” Portable Through the Glass Teleprompter.

The Ikan PT2100 provides all the features of a large, bulky studio model teleprompter, but gives you the option of easy travel at a price of $899.00. This portable teleprompter includes PrompterPro 2.0 teleprompter software, an 8” LCD display monitor, all necessary hardware for mounting, and is MAC or PC compatible.

Completely assembled, the PT2100 only weighs approximately 12 lbs., offering you a lightweight option for your teleprompter needs. Additionally, the PT2100 can be folded down into a small, convenient carrying case, is adjustable, and can be easily set up on location. The PT2100 has been specifically designed to run off of small-form HD cameras.

So, if you are in the market for a teleprompter, but need one to be on the move with you, not sitting in a studio somewhere, you have your pick of portable teleprompters, without compromising the quality of your speech, presentation or web video.

In today’s technologically advanced world, teleprompters are not just for making blockbuster movies, or for our presidents to remember their speeches, but have been used for corporate presentations, and even many video uploads on the worldwide web. And now, with your iPad, and one of these top 5 apps, you can become a teleprompter user too.

#1 Teleprompt+ for iPad – Teleprompt+ for iPad was created by Bombing Brain Interactive, and has been rated as the best teleprompter app for use on the iPad, whether you are a professional or a beginner. The teleprompter software that runs Teleprompt+ for iPad allows you to simply enter text directly into the app, or upload a prepared text document from Google Docs or Dropbox.

With a VGA connector, you can use your iPad to connect to an external monitor, which you may consider using a portable teleprompter instead of a larger studio model. However, if you are only using your iPad teleprompter, you can adjust the speed of the scrolling text directly, or use another iPad, or your iPhone through a Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connection.

Additionally, while you are presenting, or performing, the Teleprompt+ for iPad can record audio, time your presentation, as well as other features of teleprompter app software. Priced at $14.99, Teleprompt+ teleprompter software is an advanced teleprompter app, making it the best iPad teleprompter option out there.

#2 Prompster – Prompster, created by Paragoni, LLC is a much simpler option to use as an iPad teleprompter, and is priced at $9.99. Prompster teleprompter software does offer controls directly from the screen for speed adjusting, font size, as well as audio recording.

#3 Orator – Granny Smith Software created Orator, a teleprompter software app for a person on a budget, at only $2.99, and only requiring the minimum features. Aside from entering your text directly into the app, and copying and pasting, there are no other options for uploading text. The Orator teleprompter software does include options to adjust the speed, as well as for pausing your presentation.

#4 Prompterous HD – Prompterous HD was created by Labotec, and priced even lower than Orator.
